Innovative approach to improve valuable ethylene product recovery
Synopsis: The capacity-up of PCS ethylene plants and enhanced integration with neighbouring companies, resulted in higher frequency of C2’ imbalances, higher product rundowns to the LT tanks, and higher C2’ BOG generation. To overcome the capacity limitation of the existing C2’ BOG compressor, a C2’ BOG Roots blower system (in-house design) was commissioned in Phase 1 to recover excess C2’ BOG, which will otherwise be flared. As part of continual improvement, it was enhanced prior to up-sizing of the blower in Phase 2 to mitigate the impact of additional BOG generation
